36c27250c3 feat(glass): light-theme background images + enable the toggle in light
Add a light set of the 6 per-scheme backdrops (public/backdrops/light/*.svg) —
soft, pastel-mid, non-figurative washes tuned to each accent so they read through
the light translucent glass. Wire them up centrally:
- App: the backdrop is on whenever bgImage && !perf (was dark-only), so light
  gets it too.
- index.css: per-scheme rules are now [data-theme]-qualified — dark uses the dark
set, light the /light/ set; shared cover/fixed size rule for both.
- Settings: the Background image toggle + Image-fade slider work in light now
(removed the dark-only gates); hint no longer says 'dark only'. Trilingual.
The light glass (62% translucent tier) refracts the light backdrop just like dark
refracts its own; one fade slider controls both.

914cd79db9 fix(glass): give light theme its own translucent tier + unify the Plex filter rail
Light theme has no background image, so the adaptive :root glass (94%) rendered
as flat snow-white islands, while the Plex filter rail (still on bg-surface/40)
showed the ambient tint — an inconsistency. Fix centrally, not per-component:
- index.css: one html[data-theme="light"] token override (surface 62 / card 74 /
menu 86) so every .glass* surface is translucent in light and picks up the
ambient tint, like it refracts the backdrop in dark.
- PlexSidebar: bg-surface/40 -> glass, so all filter rails bind to the same token.
One central lever now controls the light-theme glass translucency for the whole app.

9f664a7ca6 chore(glass): scrub dev-process/hostname refs from tracked comments
Code review (public-repo rule): the GlassTuner + index.css/App.tsx comments named
the prod hostname and dev-process jargon (UAT/HMR/dev ports/epic), which ship in
the public bundle. Genericised the comments — no behaviour change.

f9f90cf609 feat(glass): per-scheme background images + glass-over-image mode
Land the UAT-approved backdrop direction as a real feature (replacing the dev
thumbnail prototype):
- 6 generated abstract SVG backdrops in public/backdrops/, one tuned to each
accent scheme (dark, mixed-colour, few light areas). Non-figurative + generated
  = repo-safe, tiny, accent-matched.
- New data-backdrop="on" state (dark theme + the setting + not perf) paints the
per-scheme image on <body> (app root now transparent so it shows app-wide and
the glass refracts it) AND switches the glass to its translucent tier (the
  user's tuned values: surface 50 / card 60 / scrim 30 / blur 10 / edge 25).
Off / light / perf -> flat colour + solid glass (the readable fallback).
- Settings > Appearance 'Background image' toggle (bgImage pref, dark-only),
trilingual. Flat is the fallback + opt-out.
- Remove the FeedBackdrop prototype + its tuner controls; tuner baseline resynced
to the glass-over-image tier, add a Backdrop-fade slider.
GOTCHA fixed: the dark-mode ambient 'background' shorthand reset background-size
to auto (image rendered un-covered); out-specified it with [data-theme="dark"].

036e2fe7ea feat(glass): dev-prototype feed backdrop (blurred rotating thumbnail)
Idea from UAT-2: give the feeds the same 'content behind glass' lift the Plex
detail page gets. New FeedBackdrop paints a faint, slowly-rotating feed thumbnail
as a fixed backdrop on <main> (the proven art-backdrop path — a fixed z:-1 layer
is occluded by the root's opaque bg-bg). Blur = tiny-canvas downscale + cover
upscale (no CSS filter; ytimg is CORS-readable so it uses a data-URL, else raw).
Flat --bg stays as the 'perf mode' look. Behind the GlassTuner toggle + a
Backdrop-fade slider (--feedbg-fade) so it's judged/tuned in UAT before anything
is committed for real.

c1ba5229c3 fix(glass): soften the Matrix scheme accent (neon phosphor → muted emerald)
UAT: #2fe36e read as too vivid/stabby. Drop to #46b87c (lower saturation) +
slightly less green-tinted fg; update the swatch to match.

dc51aeeae9 feat(glass): bake two-tier defaults (Adaptive chrome + media scope), add Starship/Matrix schemes
From UAT: glass reads strongest where there's content behind it, so split the
look into two tiers instead of one global compromise.
- index.css: global :root defaults are now the 'Adaptive' baseline (solid-enough
dark glass for content-less chrome). New .glass-media scope class carries the
  UAT-tuned translucent values (blur 10 / surface 50% / card 60% / scrim 30% /
edge 25%) for surfaces that float over real artwork.
- Apply .glass-media to the art-backed Plex detail views (PlexInfo page variant,
PlexShowView, PlexSeasonView) and drop PlexInfo's hard-coded inline 55%
overrides so those panels are scope-driven and consistent (hero no longer
reads solid while the season strips are translucent).
- Two new colour schemes: Starship (deep-space blue, azure accent) and Matrix
(near-black, phosphor green), each with dark+light tokens + swatches.
- Remove the thumbnail-mosaic backdrop (did nothing usefully; its home is the
future 'videos behind glass' phase) — deletes MosaicBackdrop, mosaic vars/CSS,
and the tuner's mosaic controls. GlassTuner presets resynced to the new
  baseline (Current / Media / Max-readable).

22cce807a0 feat(glass): variable-drive the glass system + dev GlassTuner (Phase 0/0b)
Foundation for the app-wide glass-consistency epic:
- index.css: every look-driving value (blur/saturate/dark-brightness/panel-card-
menu opacity/border/inset/edge/scrim/ambient + mosaic) is now a CSS custom
property defaulting to the historical hard-coded value — one-place tunable, no
visual change until a value is bumped.
- GlassTuner.tsx: dev-only (localhost-gated) always-on corner panel that live-
drives those vars, with treatment presets (Adaptive/Gradient+/Edge+scrim),
per-scheme palette editor, muted thumbnail-mosaic toggle, localStorage persist,
and Copy-CSS export. Deleted once the tuned finals are baked in.
- MosaicBackdrop.tsx: opt-in muted (blur+darken+desaturate) mosaic of on-screen
thumbnails so dark glass has real content to refract.

d84d5a1819 feat(player): keyboard + scroll-wheel controls in the video modal
Adds player-modal shortcuts and keeps keyboard focus on the modal (not the
cross-origin player iframe) on open and on player-ready, so they work until you
click into YouTube's native controls:
- F: toggle fullscreen (the player stage element, so the volume flash stays
visible; a :fullscreen CSS rule drops the 16:9 letterbox). Esc in fullscreen
exits fullscreen only, without also closing the modal.
- Space: play/pause (ignored while a button/input is focused).
- Scroll wheel over the video: volume up/down with an auto-fading volume-bar
overlay. A transparent interaction layer over the iframe catches the wheel
  (the cross-origin iframe otherwise swallows it) and maps click to play/pause;
it leaves the bottom strip uncovered so YouTube's native control bar (seek /
settings / captions / fullscreen) stays usable, and is hidden on an embed
error so the 'Open on YouTube' CTA stays clickable.

70a117d0db fix(messages): make the dock new-message flash actually visible
The ring-based flash relied on ring-accent and a CSS transition that never
restarted on a repeat message, so it was effectively invisible. Replace it with
a keyed inset-glow overlay (animation replays on every flash counter bump, and
inset shadow isn't clipped by the window's overflow-hidden) — flashes whether
the window is expanded, freshly auto-opened, or minimised.

d94f41cb56 feat(toast): surface toasts bottom-left by the bell, brighter dark rim
Toasts rose top-right, far from the notification bell which now lives bottom-left.
Anchor them bottom-left inside the content column (clears the sidebar at any width),
newest nearest the bell. Add a ~50% white border in dark mode so they stand out off
the conventional top-right spot.

8c076f7a75 feat(ui): brighten dark-mode glass so the frost is visible over dark UI
Dark glass looked nearly flat because the blurred backdrop is itself dark. Add a
brightness lift to backdrop-filter in dark mode for .glass/.glass-menu so the frosted
sheen reads even over dark surfaces (over colourful content it just looks richer).
Perf-mode still disables the blur (later rule wins).

74491991d7 fix(ui): opaque .glass-menu for floating popovers (readability)
Floating menus hover over undimmed content (no backdrop scrim like dialogs), so the
frosted .glass (78%) let the content bleed through and hurt readability. Add a near-opaque
.glass-menu (surface 92%, keeps blur) and use it for the account, language, notification
and add-to-playlist popovers. Dialogs/chrome keep the frostier .glass (they sit over a dark
scrim / the ambient bg). perf-mode disables its blur too.

0adc1104a3 fix(ui): restore glass opacity in dark mode (account popover readability)
The dark-mode experiment made .glass globally more translucent (surface 66%), which
also hit content-overlapping surfaces like the account popover — text became hard to
read over the feed behind it. Drop that override so .glass is back to the readable 78%
everywhere; keep the richer dark ambient (harmless to readability). Docked chrome loses
the marginal extra frost (which was barely noticeable anyway).

36c7a649ab feat(ui): stronger ambient + more translucent glass in dark mode
In dark mode the faint accent pools left the docked frosted chrome (nav/header) looking
flat — no content behind it to refract, unlike dialogs over the feed. Boost the dark-mode
ambient pools and make .glass a bit more translucent there so the chrome reads as glass
near the accent pools. Light mode unchanged. The full app-wide dark effect still needs
Phase 2 (ambient content/mosaic), deferred.

d46be00d47 feat(ui): glassmorphism phase 1 — frost the app chrome
Apply the real frosted .glass surface (blur) to the few large chrome surfaces — the nav
sidebar, the header and all Modal-based dialogs (was glass-card / plain surfaces) — and
enrich the ambient backdrop a touch (three soft accent pools) so the glass has more to
refract app-wide. Popovers (notifications, language, account, add-to-playlist) were
already glass. Bulk feed cards stay glass-card (no per-card blur) for performance; the
existing perf-mode still disables blur. Phase 2 (ambient thumbnail mosaic / bg image +
toggle) deferred to end-of-project polish.

a8e98d03ae perf(feed): smoother scrolling for long feeds
Three low-risk wins for large filtered feeds:
- content-visibility:auto on cards (.cv-card/.cv-row) so the browser skips
layout/paint for off-screen cards; contain-intrinsic-size keeps the scrollbar
stable and is remembered per card after first render.
- memo(VideoCard) + stable onState/onChannelFilter callbacks (onState reads the
loaded list via a ref) so appending a page only renders the ~60 new cards
instead of reconciling every card already on screen.
- Prefetch the next page earlier (sentinel rootMargin 800px → 1500px) so the
'Loading more…' flash is far less likely during fast scrolling.

94a077d699 fix(ui): restore glass translucency (82%) — opaque value killed the effect
backdrop-filter blur does work here; the previous 94% opacity made .glass nearly
solid so the blurred backdrop never showed. Dial back to 82% with a strong blur so
overlays read as frosted glass again, while staying less see-through than the old
72% that made the account menu look too transparent.

f429889250 fix(ui): opacity-based frosted glass; drop full-page settings blur
Evidence (sharp video behind overlays) shows backdrop-filter is a no-op here, most
likely because browser hardware acceleration is off — so the glass relied on a blur
that never rendered. Lean on opacity instead (94% surface) so overlay menus/panels
read as frosted glass regardless of GPU; keep the blur as a bonus when available.
Revert the settings backdrop to a plain dim scrim (no whole-page blur) and make the
header a solid bar (no backdrop-filter ancestor).

4a35e8b42a fix(ui): stronger frosted glass + frosted settings backdrop; declutter header
- Increase .glass blur (32px) so overlay menus (account) read as proper frosted glass.
- Blur the settings modal backdrop (overlay backdrop-blur) so the panel reliably
frosts the content behind it instead of showing a sharp video through.
- Remove the now-redundant header buttons (dark/light, color scheme, grid/list) —
they live in Settings → Appearance. Header keeps search, sync, bell, account.

b7d448b403 perf(ui): drop backdrop-filter from bulk glass cards
Video cards / channel rows / sidebar widgets render in bulk over a solid background
where backdrop blur adds little but is GPU-expensive and triggers forced reflow
(browser perf 'Violation' logs). Keep translucency + depth; reserve blur for the few
.glass overlay surfaces (menus, panels, toasts, tooltips).

bc9b9a854c fix(ui): portal tooltips, opaque glass, settings rail+stable height, notif test, channel help
- Tooltip: render in a portal with fixed positioning + edge-flip so hints are never
clipped by overflow/stacking ancestors (fixes mispositioned/hidden bubbles app-wide).
- Glass: raise opacity so overlay menus/panels stay readable over content.
- SettingsPanel: vertical tab rail (no wrapping/jumping), content grid-stacked so the
panel sizes to the tallest tab (stable height) and floats to its content height.
- Notifications: the test toast is now a normal auto-dismissing toast (with countdown
bar) that also plays the sound via a new force-sound flag.
- Channel manager: explain priority/tags/hide and what 'Sync subscriptions' does;
add a 'Channel priority' feed sort so priority is actually meaningful.

002579e5e5 feat(ui): liquid-glass design system, settings polish, hints, notif fixes
- Add a theme-aware glass surface system (.glass/.glass-card + ambient backdrop,
performance-mode opt-out) and apply it across panels, popovers, toasts, cards,
sidebar widgets, channel rows, video cards and login.
- SettingsPanel: slide in/out animation, glass styling, wrapping pill tabs (no
horizontal scrollbar) with a prominent active state.
- Notifications: auto-dismiss can be switched off (stays until closed); the test
notification now also triggers the alert sound; resume a suspended AudioContext.
- Add an app-wide, toggleable hint/tooltip system (lib/hints + Tooltip) and wire
hints across the settings and channel-manager surfaces; persisted per account.

a419ac2943 fix(ui): notification UX — outside-click close, toast countdown, hide entry actions
- NotificationCenter closes on outside click (document listener, not an overlay
that the blurred header trapped) and no longer needs a second bell click.
- Toasts show a level-colored countdown bar and auto-dismiss faster (6s default).
- Hidden-video notifications carry structured meta so the center offers an in-app
'Find in feed' (jump to that channel's hidden videos) and a one-click 'Unhide',
working even after a reload when the live Undo callback is gone.

e56502789f feat: M4 (part 2) — React reader UI with theming
- Vite + React + TS + Tailwind SPA served by FastAPI (multi-stage Docker build)
- Four color schemes (Midnight default, Forest, Slate, YouTube) x dark/light,
adjustable text size; persisted to user preferences and localStorage
- Header search, grid/list toggle, theme menu; sidebar filters (show state,
sort, include Shorts/live, language + topic tag chips with any/all matching)
- Infinite-scroll feed of video cards; click opens youtube.com in a new tab;
per-video watched / saved / hidden actions with optimistic updates
- SPA fallback routing; login screen for unauthenticated users
